Some RnD on a leg. I tried using on-screen sliders to drive the foot roll and knee. Good thing about doing the knee this method is that you get a non-flip solution. I also like the fact that the knee controller will always be in front of the knee, instead of being manipulated wherever.

Wrinkles
Here's a test to try to achieve wrinkles. The wrinkles are created by an expression that drives a push modifier's value.

Anemone
This is entirely driven from the flex modifier. Space warps, like wind and gravity were used to create the motion.
